Shirley J. Nordahl Obituary
Shirley J. Nordahl
11/12/1932 ~ 10/1/2018
Shirley Jean Morgan Nordahl, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and sister-in-law, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2018 surrounded by family. Shirley was born in Salt Lake City to Louis Vivian Morgan and Florence (Grandma Flo) Morgan Robinson on November 12, 1932. She was Grandpa Averett's little princess and Daddy's little girl. Shirley married her sweetheart, Thomas V. (Swede) Nordahl on June 29, 1951. They remained in love and deeply devoted to each other throughout their 67 years of marriage. Their 70+ year love story is their legacy and is why each of their sons are loving and devoted husbands.
Family always came first to Shirley. She cherished her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. Her eyes lighted up with love when the grandkids visited. She was the definition of unconditional love. Our family's tradition was Christmas Eve at Grandma and Grandpa's house, leaving us loving memories that will last a lifetime.
Shirley was a devoted JAZZ fan and a proud member of the JAZZ Boosters Club. Shirley worked for Laury Miller and Mark Miller Pontiac for over 30 years.
She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas (Swede) Nordahl; sons, Rick (Debbie), Kent (Denise), Ted (Sue), Mark (Deidra); 21 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Sandra Butler and Vickie Tuckett; sister-in-law, Lorretta Bowman; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Gary.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 8, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at the Little Cottonwood 12th Ward, 6180 South Glenoaks Street, Murray. Viewings will be held Sunday, October 7, 2018, from 5-7 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State St., Murray, and at the church on Monday from 12:00-12:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment: Redwood Memorial Estates.
