Spencer Benjamin Daniels Jr. Obituary
1926 -2012
Our beloved father and grandfather passed away in his daughter's home in Sandy, Utah on December 30, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. Our father was a great inspiration to all of his children for 86 years.
Spencer was born on October 12, 1926 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the son of Spencer and Ebba Lavon Daniels. He married the love of his life, Ruth ten Hoeve, on June 2, 1949 in the Salt Lake Temple. She preceded him in death.
Spencer loved to work and spent 42 years with AMOCO Oil. He was past president of the local chapters of the Sons of the Utah Pioneers and the AMOCO Oil Retirees. He was an Eagle Scout, held many callings in the church and served a Stake mission. Spence enjoyed helping others, especially those that were less fortunate than he. Any project that was going, he was always the first to help. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing, he was an accomplished carpenter and bowler. He loved to make everyone's day brighter by telling a joke to anyone he came in contact with. He was a peacemaker and loved to get the family together for parties.
He is survived by his children Richard S. Daniels (Ann), Marlton, New Jersey, Jeannette R. Hanson (Roland), West Valley City, Utah, Shauna S. Hadfield (Bob), Sandy, Utah, and Dewey R. Daniels (Cheryl), Sandy, Utah. 11 grand children, and 8 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Joyce Smith and his favorite companion, his dog Sassy. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Dwayne Daniels.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 12 pm at the Foothill 6th Ward, 2215 East Roosevelt Avenue, Salt Lake City, Utah. Friends and family may call Friday, January 4, 2013 between 6-8 pm, at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah or at the church one hour prior to the service.
