1929 ~ 2018
Sybil Talbot age 88, passed away on March 10, 2018 at the Cache Valley Assisted Living Center in Providence, Utah. She was born November 24, 1929 in Lewiston, Utah. She is preceded in death by her parents Gloyd Richard Talbot and Anita Allen Talbot and her brother Richard Allen Talbot.
Sybil attended Lewiston Elementary School and Lewiston Jr. High School in Lewiston, Utah, and North Cache High School in Richmond, Utah. She graduated from North Cache in 1948. She began working at Theurer's Market in Lewiston while still in high school. She then worked as a switchboard operator for a few years before being called as a missionary to serve in the North Central States Mission of the . She began her mission in February of 1954 and was released in August of 1955 .
After returning from her mission, Sybil soon moved to Salt Lake City to begin working again for the Telephone Company, working for them for 20 years. While working full time at the telephone company she attended the University of Utah getting her Bachelor's Degree and Master's degree in less then 4 years.
After graduation she quit working for the telephone company and began her teaching career teaching English at North Davis Jr. High in Clearfield, Utah. She later transferred to Millcreek Jr. High School in Bountiful, Utah (still in the Davis School District) where she would be closer to her home.
Sybil served in the Stake Young Women's Presidency and in Stake Sports in Salt lake City receiving many individual leadership Awards in both positions. She was also the Genealogical specialist for her ward and stake as well as serving in many other church positions.
Sybil was called as a Church Service Aide in the Genealogical Department of the Church in October of 1978. She was later called as a part-time missionary in the Family History Department of the Church and kept extending her call up to 1998. Serving a total of 20 years. Sybil was also called to work in the Salt Lake Temple and worked there for at least 17 years or more.
Sybil was hostess for the Relief Society and helped do displays at the Relief Society Building at 76 North Main Street. She was doing this service before and during the renovation of the building in 1984. She also served as a hostess for the Governors Manson and conducted tours.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Nyman Funeral Home. A viewing will be held Friday, March 16th at the Nyman Funeral home, 753 South 100 East from 10:00-11:30 am. Funeral services will be held 12:00 (noon) at the same location. Interment will be at the Lewiston City cemetery, in Lewiston, Utah following the services.
The family would like to send a special thanks to the staff at the Cache Valley Adult Living Center, in Providence Utah and Hospice for their special kindness and care during Sybil's stay there. They will always be in our hearts.
