Tamara Cruz Obituary

Tamara Leigh Cruz
1977 ~ 2015
Tamara Leigh Cawley Cruz, our very dear wife, mother, daughter, sister, auntie, niece, cousin, and friend, left us suddenly on August 2, 2015.
Tamara was born on October 15, 1977 to William Bruce Cawley and Corinne D'Ann Collings in Salt Lake City, UT.  After graduating from Granger High School, she received an AS degree from Snow College and took additional classes at the University of Utah. Tamara was a hard worker and held positions at the U of U Admissions Office, Physicians Group of Utah, and Jordan Valley Neurology. She loved camping, Utah Grizzlies hockey, traveling, good music, photography, and her greatest happiness was being a wife and mother. Tamara married Brian Isaac Cruz on August 14, 2010 and was later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. She was overjoyed to welcome her baby girl Charlie to their family. Tamara was a kind, patient, wonderful person who cared about the things that matter the most. We will truly miss her gentle way of being in this world.
She is survived by her husband, Brian Cruz; her daughters, Charlotte, Victoria, and Rebecca; her mother and stepfather, Corinne and Steve Howick; her sister, Victoria (Guy) VanHorn; her nieces and nephews, Amelia, Ashley, Elliot, Micah, and Benjamin; her grandfather, William Collings; and her large and loving extended family.  She is preceded in death by her father, Bill Cawley; her grandparents, Vern and Blanche Cawley; and her grandmother, Mae Burrell Collings.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 8, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at Taylorsville 27th Ward, 2976 Winchester Way. Viewings will be held Friday, August 7, 2015, 6-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, and Saturday, 10-10:45 a.m., at the church. Interment, Valley View Cemetery, 4400 West 4100 South.

Tamara,
I was so saddened by the news of your passing. I was so fortunate to have you as my neighbor our freshman year at Snow College. You were such a good friend and kind to all of those around you. You were always on board for a good time, even when my car broke down on our way to Lagoon. I pray for your dear family at this tragic time. Thank you so much for happy memories.

I knew Tamara from Granger High School were we served on seminary council together. She truly was such a good person and a friend to anyone and everyone. She was quiet but had such a fun, sweet, personality. When I think of Tamara I think of her beautiful smile and gorgeous hair. we haven't kept in touch over the years but the impact she made on me from the time we were aquainted is heartwarming and treasured. My deepest sympathies to her loved ones. May our Heavenly Father send his spirit to bear you up during this most difficult time. Thank You for your beautiful life and example Tamara.

Tamara,
When I think of my time at Snow College I will always think of you first. You were such a big part of my life there. Remember how frigid Nelson Hall was? I remember waking you up in the middle of the night to hold my feet so I could get warm. Haha. Funny, you were such a good friend. Some of my favorite memories of you are A Wedding Story afternoons with yummy butter dips and homemade ranch, lullabies of Beatles Doors or Monkey songs, and you always being willing to drive me home when I was homesick ( you were so cool with that Corsica). I am so glad we have kept in touch over the years. I was just reading our correspondences on FB yesterday and it made me smile how even if months or years went by we would just pick up where we left off. It was so fun to come to your baby shower and see how happy, in love and excited you were to become a mom. You are so awesome and will be remembered❤ I love you Tamara. I am a better person having known you.

When I think of Tamara, I think of her smile. She grew up with my kids - Jayson, Jennie and Jake, and she was one of my girl scouts. I never saw her grumpy. My prayers and thoughts go out to the family - Corinne, Vickie and to Brian and Charlie. She will never be forgotten, but will always be missed.
