Ogden, UT-Boyd Joseph Farr, 87, passed away on February 26, 2014 at home with his family at his side.
He was born April 28, 1926 in Ogden, Utah the son of Thomas F. and Ella Petersen Farr. He served in the Navy during World War II and was in the Navy Reserves until 1946. He was a graduate of University of Utah and received his Doctorate of Medicine in 1952 from George Washington University.
Boyd married Margaret Bailey August 19, 1949 in the Salt Lake Temple. They spent 62 wonderful years together. She preceded him in death in 2011; also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Lynn and Keith Farr.
Boyd opened his own private practice in 1956 to 1958. He then worked for Ogden Clinic until his retirement in 1995.
He held several positions with local hospitals, including President of the medical staff at McKay Dee and as instructor at the University of Utah. He belonged to the American Board of Ob-Gyn, American College of Ob-Gyn and the Weber County Medical Society.
Boyd was very active with the community, serving on many organizations. He was on the Salvation Army Board, President of the Weber County Association of Retarded Children, a member of the Maternal Mortality Committee of Utah, surrogate parent for Utah Parent Center, and multiple positions in the LDS Church, including Bishop.
He is survived by his children, Richard "Ricky" Bailey Farr, Ann Lawrence, Joseph Bailey (Wendy) Farr and Julie (Jeff) Hatch and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 3, 2014 at Malan's Peak Ward, 1647 26th Street. A viewing will be held on Sunday, March 2nd from 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd and on Monday at the church from 9:40 to 10:40 a.m. Interment, Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch 1718 Combe Road.
