South Jordan, UT-Vera Carpenter Ellsworth, age 96, died March 11, 2014. Born September 13, 1917 in Ephraim, Utah to Fred Spence Carpenter and Ethlind Bracken Carpenter. Married Harold Hales Ellsworth June 7, 1939 in Salt Lake, later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a loving mother of seven children whom she loved dearly. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her death. She was a friend to everyone she met and always looked for the good in everyone. She enjoyed dancing, swimming, ping pong, bowling and traveling. She always wore a smile and had a positive attitude about life and loved the Lord, and she never lost her sense of humor. She was an active member of the LDS church serving as teacher in the Primary, as Primary Secretary, and on the Primary Stake Board. Called to be a Councilor in the MIA Presidency and twice as the President of the Young Women's MIA. Taught in Sunday School and was Ward, Stake and District Dance Director with her husband. Taught in Relief Society for eight years and was also a Councilor in the Relief Society Presidency . She served a mission with her husband in Missouri from 1973 to 1975, and worked in the Salt Lake Temple as an Ordinance worker, as well as in the Jordan River Temple for 14 years. Was a visiting teacher for many years.
Her husband preceded her in death on March 5, 1988. She is survived by three daughters Sharlene Ellsworth of Taos NM, Marilyn Shelley (Bob) of SLC, LaWanna Grant of SLC; and four sons Butch (Jodi) of Sandy, Mike (Cindy) of Sandy, Roger of Las Vegas, and Stephen (Katy) of Los Angeles.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 So.) Viewings will be held on Sunday, March 16th from 5:00-7:00 pm and Monday from 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens.
