Elda D. Rasmussen|
1927 - 2014
Elda Dansie Rasmussen, 86, loving wife, mother, grandma, great grandma, sister and friend, passed away March 14, 2014. She was born December 16, 1927, in Bluffdale, Utah, to Charles Alfred and Vurnice Elizabeth Newbold Dansie.
She loved to dance and at a dance hall is where she and Donald E. Rasmussen met. That meeting became a lifelong love affair. Donald and Elda where married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple November 18, 1948 and shared their lives together for 65 years.
Elda was a wonderful and caring wife paying attention to her husband's needs until her passing. She was the center and foundation of the home. Family was important to her. She was an excellent mother to her children always caring for and supporting them in the things they were doing. She beamed with pride to be the mother of 3 children, 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Her hobbies included the love of reading, to be outside in her yard nurturing flower and vegetable beds, watching and listening to birds, anything to do with her hands like sewing, crocheting, needle point, scrap booking, arts and crafts. She enjoyed making clothes, plaid shirts for her son and the "plaid that had to match (align)," prom and wedding dresses, without a pattern, for her daughters. One of her favorite past times was to go for a ride in the car, find a shady spot under a tree and engage in conversation while enjoying a Diet Coke and Cheetos.
Elda worked at O.C. Tanner in various positions. Her love of sewing eventually turned into a profession as a seamstress at Ottley's Spring Crest Draperies & Design in Sandy, Utah.
She was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strong testimony.
Elda is survived by her husband, Donald, daughters Renae (Doug) Nilsson, Debra (Dan) Simons, daughter-in-law Colleen Nielsen Rasmussen, 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her son, Gary D. Rasmussen.
