Kathleen Davies deBruyn Obituary
Kathleen deBruyn
1925-2014
Kathleen peacefully passed away in Salt Lake City on April 1, 2014 surrounded by family. Born to Adrian and Nora Davies on December 14, 1925 in Fillmore, Utah. She married her eternal companion Don deBruyn on May 5, 1950 in the Manti Temple. Kathleen and Don established a loving home in Salt Lake City where she was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served diligently in a variety of church callings and was the epitome of service to others and love for all. Family was the center of her life and she cherished the close relationships she maintained with her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her family especially loved to gather at her home which they referred to as - Bada's Party Palace - where she always had food in the fridge and an abundance of love. Despite the many physical hardships she suffered, she always had a smile on her face, even in her final hours. She took pride in being the matriarch of our family and we are grateful for the example she set for us. Kathleen is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Don, who could always be found at her side. She is also survived by her two daughters: Dawnette (Gary) McCarty, Pauline (Wayne) Crawford, her six grandsons: Scott (Beth) McCarty, Dustin McCarty, Bryce (Jessica) Crawford, Sam McCarty, Alex (Megan) Crawford, and Nick Crawford. Kathleen also adored her five great grandchildren: Madilyn, Isaac, Sara, Jacob, and Alicia.
A viewing will be held at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, on Friday, April 4th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Graveside services will be held in Fillmore, Utah. In lieu of gifts, donations can be made to the Moran Eye Center Retinal Research fund for macular degeneration in honor of Kathleen deBruyn.
