Salt Lake City, Utah-Maurine Jackson McLean passed away March 28, 2014 at the age of 93, in Salt Lake City, Utah, of CML and causes incident to age.
Maurine was born January 14, 1921, number 8 of 12 children of S. Andrew and Iretta Woolley Jackson, in Salt Lake City, UT. She graduated from East High School, attended the University of Utah and graduated from the LDS Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1942. She married Gilbert John McLean October 29, 1943 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Maurine was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many teaching and leadership positions. She was also active in the PTA and was awarded an Honorary Life-Time Membership. She was a volunteer disaster nurse with the American Red Cross. Along with her husband and six sons, she was involved in the Scouting Program. She was a registered scouter for 45 years, received the Red Butte District Award of Merit and the Silver Fawn Award. She loved life and enjoyed her brothers and sisters, her husband and their nine children, hot baths and chocolate.
Maurine is survived by her children: Kathleen (Dennis) Judd, Marilyn, Rosemary (Duane) Swapp, Powell (Lorraine), John (Leslie), David (Stacey Jo), Douglas (Jandeen) and Steven (Diane); 25 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren; sisters Laura Kunz and Esther (Earl) Wallace. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Gilbert, son Mark (Claire), and 4 grandchildren.
Viewings will be held Thursday, April 10, 2014, 6-8 pm at the Garner Funeral Home, 1001 11th Avenue, SLC and Friday at the Liberty Ward, 10:00 - 10:40 am. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 11, 2014, 11 am at the Liberty Ward, 445 East Harvard Avenue, SLC.
Interment at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
