Frances Louise Langton Obituary
Frances Louise Langton
Together Again
Our sweet mother, Frances Louise Langton, passed away peacefully the morning of April 21, 2014, 6 days shy of her 94th birthday. She was born an only child April 27, 1920, in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, to Louis James Seaton and Jessie Carolyn Goodbar. She attended schools in California and Salt Lake City and graduated from West High School along with her high school sweetheart, our dear father, Paul Langton, who passed away eight years ago. They were married July 15, 1939, and their union was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple where they were sealed to their four children June 24, 1955.
Fran was a devoted wife and mother. Her family was her life. Their care and happiness were her primary concerns all her life. She had a quiet way of going about doing good. She never said a mean word about anyone, and everyone who knew her loved her. Her talent was her ability to give of herself. Mom was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings in Primary, Jr. Sunday School and Relief Society. One of her favorites was sending out the Ward newspaper with Dad. She served as a stake visiting teacher leader at the Highland Care Center for many, many years going every week without fail visiting residents and lifting their spirits. She had a gift and always a smile. They wouldn't let her quit even if she had wanted to. She continued this service until she was 88. After Dad died Mom wanted to serve in the temple so she was called by her bishop, and she worked every Saturday in the Salt Lake Temple for three years. She loved it, and she loved the people. It was hard for her to give it up.
Mom and Dad were inseparable. They did everything together, and we are comforted as we envision them together again. Fran is survived by their children Karen (Darrell, deceased) Anderson, California, Sheryl (Gary) Pearson, Cottonwood Heights, Vicki (Terry) Lindgren, California, and Dennis (Jan) Langton, California; 13 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren, all of whom were dearly loved.
We thank all those at The Coventry who loved and cared for Mom, especially her "little girls," who cared for her during the day, and the two wonderful boys who lovingly cared for her at night these last six months. We also thank her devoted nurse, Miney, from Pine Mountain Hospice, and Kennia, who took care of her and fixed her up every morning.
Funeral services will be Monday, April 28, 2014, 12:00 noon at the Valley View 9th Ward, 4101 South 1925 East, on Gunderson Lane. Friends may call Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, and Monday 11:00-11:45 a.m. at the Ward. Interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
