1938 - 2014
Nyle Bird Shumway, (age 75) unexpectedly passed away on Monday, May 1, 2014.
Nyle leaves behind his loving and caring wife, Glenda of 49 years; two sons, Boyd Vincent Wilkins (Lynda) of Payson, UT and Eric Moyle Wilkins (Bonnie) of Spanish Fork, UT; & brother, Jay Shumway of Lindon, UT.
Nyle Bird Shumway was born July 19, 1938 to Melvin Shumway and Eunice Shoell in Lindon, UT. Nyle attended Pleasant Grove High School and made the winning touchdown for the State Championship in 1956. He owned and operated Shumway's American Service for 13 years, served on the Orem Police Force for three years, worked as millwright on several power plant overhauls and in the construction of schools, churches, and many commercial buildings eventually becoming a labor superintendent for two large construction firms. Nyle will be sorely missed by his family, friends, and neighbors as a trusted friend who was always willing to help anyone at any time with only a moment's notice.
Nyle is preceded in death by his son, Craig; brothers, Don and Elvin Shumway; and his parents Melvin Shumway and Eunice Shoell.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May, 6, 2014 at the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 East Center Street, Provo, Utah. Friends and family may visit from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Orem City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent online at www.bergmortuary.com.
