Jim Light passed away on December 25, 2013 in Alamogordo, NM after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease; he was 82 years old.
Born in Annville, Pennsylvania on November 17,1931, Jim was the sixth child of Cora and Vernon Light.
Jim is survived by his wife Avis, sons Adam and wife Melissa and Luther and wife Amanda and by his four grandchildren Jacob, Isaac, Elliot and Maya. And also by sisters Anna Light, Ruth Leffler and brother Earl and by many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by sister Mary Grace and brother John Henry.
The Light family will hold a celebration of Jim's life on Saturday, June 7th from 1-3 PM to be hosted by Silver Fork Lodge in Big Cottonwood Canyon. Jim's many friends and neighbors from his fifty years in the canyon, first as owner and chef at Silver Fork Lodge, and later as summer guide at Silver Lake are invited to share memories with family members and with one another.
Donations in Jim's memory may be made to the Cottonwood Canyons Foundation which provides stewardship and education programs in Big Cottonwood. (http://www.cottonwoodcanyons.org/).
