Conard LeVere Chatelain
"CL"
Conard L. Chatelain, 87, of South Ogden, passed away on June 13, 2014.
He was born May 21, 1927 in Ogden, Utah to Myrtle Violet Bates and Conard Edward Chatelain. He grew up on a farm in North Ogden and graduated from Weber High and attended Utah State University. CL joined the Army serving in Anchorage, Alaska during the Korean Conflict, and later moved back to Ogden.
He married DelIda Vest in July of 1950 in Evanston, Wyoming; they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in December of 1990.
As a young man he served as a stake missionary for the LDS Church, later he was an Ogden Temple Ordinance worker, Sunday School President and served a service mission at the LDS Ogden Cannery.
CL worked 44 years as a Fireman and Engineer on the Southern Pacific Railroad. He also worked for a glass company that put in the windows at the Ogden Tabernacle.
He enjoyed Quarter Horses and researching their pedigrees; he also enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodwork, gardening and spending time in the mountains. His greatest love was his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
CL was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 61 years, DelIda; his siblings, Viola, Delbert, Eugene, Lou Cil, and Gordon.
He is survived by his children, Ilene (Allan) Graves, Donna (Dan) Woodland and Curtis LeVere (Sharon) Chatelain; 14 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter and his brother, Russell Chatelain.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at the Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden. A viewing will be held on Monday, June 16th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd.
The family would like to thank Inspiration Hospice (Laura), Mountain Ridge Memory Care Unit, especially his favorite CNA, Heather.
Donation may be made in CL's name to the LDS Church Perpetual Education Fund.
