South Jordan, Utah-Our beloved husband, dad, grandfather and friend Matthew Jay Holt passed away unexpectedly on June 27, 2014. Born in Garfield, Utah on May 17, 1930 to Matthew Holt and Myrtle Maynard Holt. Married Pauline Bradford in 1950, she passed away in 1954. Married Elaine Lloyd June 24, 1967, later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He was a proud "Beetdigger" graduating from Jordan High in 1948.
"Jay" spent 5 years working as a police officer in South Jordan. He was a building contractor for more than 50 years, building many homes in this community. Jay was an amazing man and friend. Salt of the earth. A truly kind, funny, witty man who would give anyone the shirt off his back. He will be dearly missed.
Survived by his wife Elaine, son Jason (Stephanie) Holt, daughters Jana Holt, Kelli Holt, Heidi Chytraus, daughter-in-law Shirley (Nathan) Carter, 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, sisters and brothers-in-law Betty (Max) Lee, Donald Lloyd, Rodney Lloyd and many nieces and nephews who adored uncle Jay and his beloved little Yorkie, "Sophia". Preceded in death by his first wife Pauline, son Paul Holt, grandson Travis Holt, parents, 3 sisters, and his little Pug, "Rylie".
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 2, 2014 at 12:00 noon at the LDS Chapel located on 1229 West 10775 South. Viewings will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 So) and on Wednesday at the church from 11:00-11:45 a.m. prior to services.
