"Together Again"
Shirley Chesnut Goff, left this mortal life on July 10, 2014, at the age of 88, to join her eternal friend and sweetheart, after a valiant fight with cancer.
She was born September 1, 1925, in Escalante, Utah to Iva Shurtz and Joseph Moroni Chesnut. She married James Eugene (Gene) Goff on November 12, 1942. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. He passed in 2000. Mom was actively engaged in good causes and the creation of beauty all of her life. Her home, garden and crafts were showpieces of exquisite care and love. Lifetime resident of Midvale, Utah. Shirley was the owner of Midvalley Embroidery Shop for 53 years. Mom and Dad served as Grand Marshalls of Midvale Harvest Days. She was a valiant member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many positions, including a full-time mission to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Although limited in the past few years, she was proud of her Temple Recommend. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Bingham-Midvale Erie #659, where she served as President of the "Women's Auxiliary" and as "President and Past Utah State President."
Survived by one daughter, Judyth Ann Cook (Kay) of West Jordan, UT, and sons, David E. Goff (Avonne) of Spanish Fork, UT, and Douglas K. Goff (CareyLyn) of San Antonio, TX; also 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, two daughters-in-law, Pamela Goff, Virginia (Ginger) Goff and one sister, Josephine Briggs. Preceded in death by husband, Gene, one grandson, one granddaughter, two great-grandchildren, three brothers and four sisters.
A viewing will be held at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street, Midvale, UT, on July 16, 2014, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to services on July 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens, Sandy, UT.
