Joanne Hill Peterson Obituary
March 15, 1941 ~ July 10, 2014
St. George, UT-Joanne Hill Peterson, 73, passed away on July 10, 2014.
Joanne was born March 15, 1941 in Preston, Idaho to Margaret and Don Hill. She married Ralph Eugene Peterson in Ogden, Utah on December 19, 1959. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Joanne was raised in Utah, where she attended "Dear Old" Davis High (We'll fight for you!). She was a cheerleader with a tomboy heart. She especially loved softball-Joanne played a mean shortstop! Her love of sports continued through adulthood as she picked up skiing and golf and enjoyed sharing both with her children. She was especially proud to have made a hole-in-one and to have played golf as far away as Scotland. With her husband and children, Joanne moved from Utah to Washington, Michigan, Tennessee, Virginia, and back to Utah again. In their later years, Joanne and her husband Ralph loved serving an LDS mission in the St. George Temple Visitor's Center.
Joanne is survived by her husband Ralph of St. George, UT, and children: Mike and Beth Peterson of Boise, ID, Ronna Christian of Draper, UT, Rob and Stacy Peterson of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, and Gina and Dave Murphy of Springville, UT, 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, UT. Visitations will be held on Sunday, July 13, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Monday, prior to services, at 10:00 a.m., both at the mortuary. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 15, at 11:00 a.m., at Mountain View Memorial Cemetery, 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights, UT.
Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221.
