Pearl Marjorie Peckham Rands Obituary
1920 ~ 2014
Pearl Marjorie Peckham Rands was reunited with her beloved husband Richard Matheson Rands on Sunday, August 3, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada at the age of 94.
Pearl was born in Midvale, Utah to Charles James Peckham and Florence Else Grout May 8, 1920. She married Richard Matheson Rands November 20, 1940 in Midvale, Utah, later sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. Pearl's most precious moments were times spent with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Pearl loved the Church and devoted many hours to her church callings, both at the ward and the stake level. She worked for Sperry Univac as a publication specialist for many years, earning a national award as Employee of the Year. Pearl loved serving her neighbors and could be found making baked goods and delivering them on the sly. She also made splendid wedding cakes for her children and friends. She was nominated by Deseret News as an Outstanding Neighbor. Pearl and Dick were master gardeners and shared their beautiful flowers with everyone. Pearl learned new skills to keep her busy and to share with those she loved. She was always busy with one crochet project or another and was blessing those around her.
Pearl is preceded in death by seven siblings, one beloved daughter-in-law (Linda Rands), and one grandson. She will be missed by her sister, Gwen Peckham Dembosz of Chicago, son Richard Matheson Rands (Ruth) of California, daughter Marjorie Rands Humes (Brent) of Indiana, and sons Robert Arthur Rands (Janet) of Washington and Steven Douglas Rands (Ilene) of Nevada. Pearl has eighteen grandchildren who love her and will miss her dearly. Pearl had thirty-seven great grandchildren at the time of her death. She leaves a rich legacy.
Funeral services will be held August 16, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Crystal Heights Ward building (1970 East Stratford Avenue, Salt Lake City, Utah) with visitation at 9:45 a.m. A visitation will also be held Friday August 15 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary (3401 South Highland Drive) from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
