1949 ~ 2017
Thomas Wayne Nelson, our father, son, brother, grandfather, and friend, passed away on February 19, 2017. He succumbed to complications due to pneumonia while recovering from recent strokes and fighting heart disease. He follows his sweetheart, Sandie, who passed just one week earlier. He was surrounded by family in his final moments.
Tom was born and raised in Salt Lake City and attended Skyline High School. He loved sports and played football and ice hockey, where he excelled at both. He loved taking his family on vacation and was happiest with them together in the outdoors. He was president and co-founder of Nelson Brothers Electric, and served for many years on the board and leadership of the National Electrical Contractors Association, Intermountain Chapter. He was an example of strength, hard work, and compassion to all who knew him.
Tom is survived by his mother Eve, sons Joshua (Stacie), Nathan (Amy), and Jacob (Valerie), and brothers Raymond (Kathy) and Kelly. Tom and Sandie have four grandchildren: Lexie, Jaden, Jorja, and Tanner. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandie, and his father, Raymond "Bud."
A public viewing will be held on Friday, February 24, 2017 from 6 PM to 8 PM and Saturday, February 25th from 10 to 10:45 AM at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street, Murray, Utah. Funeral services follow the Saturday public viewing at 11 AM at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary. He will be laid to rest at Elysian Burial Gardens in Millcreek, Utah.

Our deepest sympathies from all of us at Bush Sales {Norm, Glen, Bill, Curt, Jason, Ben and myself Kathy}. We had done business with them for years and it was a pleasure to work with them. Calling and talking to Sandie was the part of my job that made it worthwhile! They both were such sincere people and they will be miss by us all!

I have so many good memories of Tom. He was my favorite Grouch. Every outing was full of laughter, making fun of ourselves, laughter, and laughter. I am saddened greatly by his death. I believe he and Sandie are taking care of each other somewhere nice.

Tom was a good friend. I have fond memories of hanging out with Tom in high school at "Buds" gas station where we would often meet with other friends before going out to get something to eat or have some fun. And, those square-toed kicking shoes were a classic! Tom was also a place-kicker for our freshman football team at the University of Utah where we continued our friendship. I didn't see Tom much after that, but I remember Tom as someone who was honest, a man of his word, and who enjoyed being with his friends. I'm sure he will be missed by his family...condolences to those who loved him.

Tom will be missed by all that knew him. Tom was our kicker at skyline and our goal tender in hockey, I have many good memories of tom and ray and Kelly. I/we are all very sad that he has left us. Ed Cooper.

Tom was a great guy. I have many wonderful memories of him on hunting and fishing trips we shared together when we were younger. I have know him since Junior High School and am saddened greatly by his passing.
