Robert Lovell Mendenhall 1933 ~ 2009 Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother, Robert Lovell Mendenhall, peacefully passed away at his home surrounded by family on Friday, December 4, 2009.Bob was born October 18, 1933, as the second child of Wendell and Wealtha Mendenhall in Springville, Utah. He was raised in Stockton, California where he first met his high school sweetheart, Phyllis Marie Kaiser. They were sealed for time and eternity on Oct. 5, 1953 in the Salt Lake City Temple. Shortly after they wed, they served a three year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in New Zealand. Bob graduated from BYU in 1959. Bob and Phyllis are the parents of seven children: Marie Abegg (Taylor), Kiwi Mendenhall (Mary), Wealtha Burgess (Andy), Bobbi Jo Beck (Gary), Buck Mendenhall (Carol), Emily Johnsen (Tod), Jacob Mendenhall (Leslie). Bob lived his life to the fullest. His life long service and commitment to his faith touched the hearts and lives of many people, particularly his desire to work with the youth through numerous church callings at the missionary training center, young men organizations, Sunday school, and bishoprics. His great loves were his family, the gospel, and missionary work. His passions included backpacking in the Wind Rivers, hunting, fishing, his horses, mules and dogs, and various sports. He will be greatly missed for his tall story telling, sense of humor, his enthusiastic gospel messages, and his example as a man of true character in his professional and private life. Bob was an extraordinary salesman, the consummate horse trader, which led him to a life long career in real estate sales and development. He worked in partnership with his brother, Paul, in developing regional and national real estate sales programs. Bob was a key principal in many real estate partnerships which developed some of the most prominent commercial properties on the Wasatch Front, including Layton Hills Mall, in Layton, Utah, and the Meadows retail complex in American Fork, Utah. He contributed to his business partnerships not only his personal business acumen, but personal devotion, developing many life long friends. Bob is survived by his wife Phyllis K. Mendenhall, their seven children and spouses, 31 grandchildren, 10 plus great-grandchildren, and his brother Paul Mendenhall. The Robert L. Mendenhall family wishes to express deepest appreciation for all the medical professional help, neighbors, friends, and ward members that have given so much love and support during his last years. Funeral services for Bob will be held Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. in the Alpine West LDS Stake Center Chapel located at 327 South Long Dr., Alpine, Utah.
