BRUCE SLATER Obituary
Bruce Gordon Slater 1945 ~ 2010 Bruce Gordon Slater, 64, beloved husband, daddy, grandpa and brother, passed away May 14th due to a sudden illness. He was born July 24, 1945 in Marriott, Utah to Ellis and Mildred Slater. He graduated from Weber High, where he excelled in football, wrestling, track and was President of the FFA. He went on to obtain both his BS in Agronomy and MPA from Brigham Young University and will forever be a true blue Cougar fan. Bruce married Terrijean Newman on June 19, 1968 in the Logan LDS Temple and they spent 42 magical years together. He worked for the State Department of Environmental Quality for 33 years as an environmental planner. A devout life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bruce served a mission to the West Central States. He served in many other church callings, but none he enjoyed more than serving as bishop to the West Bountiful 6th Ward, whose members he loved dearly. He was a perfect example of the charity of Christ, and had faith that could move mountains. Bruce had a love for life, learning and family. Whether at Greys River with his family, hunting with his son, or attending one of his grandkid's many functions, he treasured spending time with loved ones. Some of his happiest times were spent on the back of a horse or watching John Wayne westerns. Bruce, you were loved and adored by all who knew you and will be dearly missed. Survived by his wife Terri; six children: Chad and Elli Bangerter, Kenny and Jenni Jewell, Noel and Hillarie Slater; eight grandchildren: Saydey, Skyler, Brady, Cody, Jackson, Rylee, Tyler and Jakey; brothers Frank and Dennis.
