Ford Reeder Obituary

Ford Petersen Reeder "Man Among Men" Ford Petersen Reeder passed away peacefully with his family surrounding him at his home on Monday October 25, 2010 after an extended battle with colon cancer. He was born on May 6, 1951 in Brigham City, Utah to Harold Wilford Reeder and Mary Petersen. Ford was raised in Brigham City, Utah where he attained the rank of Eagle Scout. While in Brigham City he met, courted and ultimately wedded his high school sweetheart, Dianne Bush, on March 19, 1970 and was sealed in the Logan Temple. Together they raised five children. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Ford was always known as a hard worker. He ultimately ran a successful business as a real estate appraiser for 30 years. He served faithfully in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in many capacities. His real passion was in working with the youth of the Church. Ford also enjoyed many travels with his wife and family. These travels took them from Hawaii to Israel and many places in between. He was passionate about cooking, tirelessly working to perfect his recipes. He had a gift for influencing people's lives for good and always left people uplifted, with a desire to be better. Ford fought a courageous battle with cancer for over 11 years without ever going into remission. We give heartfelt thanks to the many medical professionals who helped along the way. He is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Dianne Bush Reeder; five children: Natalie (Travis) Ashby, Christina (Duane) Beus, Jason (Kassy) Reeder, Jeffrey (Tami) Reeder, and Justin (Ashley) Reeder; 13 grandchildren; many "adopted children"; and four siblings: Shirley (Larry) Paulson, Kathryn (Val) Paulsen, Cordell (Ruth) Reeder, and Boyd (Rebecca) Reeder. He is dearly loved and will be greatly missed! Funeral services will be held Friday October 29, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the River Ridge Stake Center located at 10194 S. 1000 W., South Jordan, Utah. Viewings will be held on Thursday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley located at 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway, South Jordan, Utah and on Friday one hour prior to services. Interment will be at Brigham City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wells Fargo Ford Reeder Donations account. Online condolences at www.jenkins-soffe.com.

I remember how engaging Ford was to Jason's friends. I have a memory of us running wild in his back yard some type of tag game, and he grabbed me and started to wrestle with me. laughing hysterically as he tried some old 1960's wrestling move on me.... another occasion/good memory Bro Reeder having an open sincere conversation with me ten minutes before sacrament started on a thought he was pondering on a gospel related principle. I left that discussion feeling more confident and assured as an individual--knowing that this good man would treat young 18 year old me as an equal.

Additionally, I have such fond memories on many occasions coming to their home for lunch, and having his good wife fix Jason and our friends massive burritos. Sister Reeder showed such genuine interest in our lives through questions asked.... Amazing people....
Sister Reeder,Jason, and family--so very sorry for your loss. I know from personal experience the veil is thin and those who pass on can and do administer to us.... my deepest condolences and love, Jared Beesley

Diane,

I met you many years ago when Ford and I were doing business together. I have know Ford for over 15 years. I remember the day he told me about his cancer. He shared with me his many surgeries and challenges with recovery. As you well know he worked wether he was feeling good or could barfely stand on his own 2 feet. I knew I could alway count on Ford. He did me so many good deeds that I will never be able to repay him. I know his rewards are in heaven. I know you and your children will miss him deeply but also know that you understand the bigger plan for him. He is needed in a much higher capacity and will serve his newest calling far above anyone expectations. Diane, he was an excellent person. He loved his children and you and wanted nothing but the best for his family. i will truly miss him and feel so honored to have know him as a appraiser but also as a friend. Ford, I will miss you more than words can say. May God bless your family with peace amd comfort.
