ELISABETH FATZINGER Obituary
Elisabeth Gerda Fatzinger "Loving Mother" Our beloved mother was surrounded by her loving family as she passed away peacefully on November 11, 2010. She was born in Insterburg, Germany, January 24, 1931. She is survived by her adored children, son, Greg; daughter, Pam; and three dearly loved grand-children, Alex, Michael and Kadrina. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughters Wendy and Norma. As a child she endured the hardships of being a German civilian during World War II. In the aftermath of the war she lived in the Soviet controlled block of Eastern Germany. Unwilling to spend the rest of life there she demonstrated incredible courage and escaped alone with no possessions to West Berlin and freedom. In 1960, she moved her family from New York City to Utah because the Wasatch Mountains always reminded her of the forests she loved in Germany. She leaves behind a legacy of courage and remarkable strength. She will also be remembered and loved forever. "Like some low and mournful swell, we whisper that sad word, 'farewell.'" Funeral services Friday, November 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hunter 9th Ward, 3450 South 6400 West. Friends/family are invited to a viewing Thursday, 6-8 p.m. at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 E. 10600 South and Friday at the Ward 10:00-10:45 a.m. Online condolences: www.larkincares.com
