VICKY WILSON Obituary
Vicky Sue Schoppe Wilson 1946 ~ 2010 Vicky Sue Schoppe Wilson, who was born on Christmas Day 1946, passed peacefully from this life to the next on the 39th anniversary of her marriage to her attentive companion, Kim R. Wilson, December 29, 2010.Her life reflected all that was good in her noble German and English forbears. She is the daughter of Theodore G. and Violet Beth Harding Schoppe. She was born in Provo but raised in Garden Grove, CA. She graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Art and Interior Design. Her grace and beauty were showcased while a member of BYU's ballroom dance team. After graduate study, she became an interior designer with ZCMI, and she allowed a law student, Kim, to win her heart. They were married in the Los Angeles Temple over Christmas break in 1971, and for their honeymoon hurried back to Salt Lake for final exams. Vicky was a lovely, refined and creative woman who enjoyed making everything around her beautiful. She painted, sculpted and designed. In her day she had her own set of hand and power tools and had no equal in their use. Twenty-five years ago she transformed a tumble-down farmhouse, barn and pioneer log cabin in Cove, UT, into an engaging country retreat which she decorated with wonderful finds - antiques, milk pails, egg baskets, harness and the like. Her family spent nearly every summer weekend together there enjoying the beauty of Cache Valley, riding horses, moving sprinkler pipe and hauling hay. She was a devoted and faithful member of the LDS Church and joyfully served in leadership and teaching positions as her health permitted. Her life was devoted to serving her family. She and Kim buried their first child Dori at birth, and then welcomed in succession children Jacqueline Sue (James) Lee of Centerville, Natalie Dawn of Salt Lake, Wendy Ann (Willard) Richards of Winston-Salem, NC, and David Royal of Salt Lake, who have in turn welcomed four and three-fourths grandchildren. She is survived by her father Ted and brother Daniel Schoppe of Laguna Niguel, CA, and sister Catherine (Paul) Roberts of Irvine, CA. Vicky suffered from ill health, but without complaint, for much of her life and would wish to express her love and appreciation to a core of devoted friends and professional caregivers who gave her joy and companionship as her physical world became increasingly smaller by reason of multiple sclerosis and other conditions. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at 12:00 Noon at the Emigration Stake Center, 589 18th Avenue, Salt Lake City. Viewings will be held on Monday, January 3, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, and one hour before the service at the stake center on Tuesday. Interment will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery. To know Vicky was to love her, and now to miss her for a season. We expect she is making plans to redecorate Heaven.
