Patricia Markos Benson 1954 ~ 2011 Pat passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday June 5 after a gallant battle with colon cancer. Pat grew up in Plain City, Utah and enjoyed learning the values of hard work where her family ran a dairy farm. She graduated from Weber High and the University of Utah. She married Robert Scott Benson on July 18, 1976 in Ogden, Utah and together they raised two children. Pat had a passion for creative design that she displayed in her professional and personal life. Her love for making events unique displayed her love of life. She celebrated everything from birthdays, to camping to shopping with a contagious zest. She was a seamstress extraordinaire, designing everything from exquisite pillows to personalized camera covers and shoe bags. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her patient nature gave her strength as a caretaker during her husband's struggle with melanoma. After Pat's cancer diagnosis in 2003, she put all her energies into countless surgeries, treatment, and spiritual strength that would reveal her courage to fight for life. During her last seven years she found enjoyment in traveling around the world with her special companion Jerry McCoy who gave strength and support. A special thanks goes to her mother, children, sisters, brothers, friends, relatives, Father Elias Koucos, Father Michael A. Kouremetis, the Huntsman Cancer Institute, the staff at IMC Hospital, and Hospice who understood what it meant to find integrity in self-sacrifice, love, and giving. Pat will remain with us in her spirit of passionate caretaking, motherly concern, and her radiant smile. She is preceded in death by father George Markos and husband Robert Benson. She is survived by her mother Bessie Markos, son Bobby (Nichole) Benson, daughter Briana (Rex) Udink, grandsons Brody and Kayden Benson, brothers Harry [Linda (Deceased)] and Frank (Sharon) Markos, sisters Francine (Walter) Stout, and Elaine (Nick) Bapis and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and friends.
