Lucille Sunderland Curtis
1919 ~ 2011
Lucille Lundgreen Sunderland Curtis, 92, passed peacefully from this life on October 27, 2011. She was born on August 15, 1919 in Monroe, Utah to Peter Charles and Louine Staker Lundgreen. She was the 4th of 7 children. She married George Sunderland on April 2, 1941. They became the parents of Ernest. George passed away on April 20, 1968 and she married R. Emerson Curtis in May 1969. His large family became hers, and she loved their posterity. Emerson died on January 19,1989.
She was an active member of the LDS church her entire life and served in many capacities. She loved her association with the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. After Emerson's death she served a mission to Santa Rosa, California and also served in the Jordan River Temple. She and Emerson enjoyed traveling the world together. People were drawn to Lucille because of her bubbly and fun-loving personality.
Lucille is survived by her son, Ernest Sunderland and step-children Marjorie Nordquist, Patricia Blackham, Carolee (Jack) Green, Marian (Craig) Kirkham, and Steven (Janice) Curtis. She will be missed by 29 grand children and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 sisters: Winona Lowe and Norma Jensen.
The family wishes to express heart-felt appreciation to those who loved and cared for Lucille during her declining years.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, November 5, 2011, at the Bennion East Stake Center, 5980 South 1300 West. A viewing will be held before the services from 10:30 until 11:45 am at the chapel. Online condolences may be made at www.larkincares.com
