Darell Stewart Obituary

Together Again
Darell H Stewart, beloved husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend slipped peacefully away to be reunited with his sweetheart, Gloria, on October 23, 2012 at the age of 88.
Darell was born in Fairview, Utah on November 1, 1923 to John Frank Stewart and Hortense Hurst. He was a country boy at heart and loved being in Sanpete County. He graduated from North Sanpete High School. After graduation he attended Snow College for one quarter before enlisting in the army. He was proud to serve his country in World War II in China.
He returned to Snow College where he met the love of his life, Gloria Edith Peterson. Once he met her, there was never another girl for him. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on September 3, 1948.
Darell graduated from Snow College and continued his education at BYU, graduating with a teaching degree. He taught 4th and 5th grades in Fairview Elementary for 35 years. He was a favorite teacher and taught most of the kids who grew up in Fairview, including all of his seven children and four of his grandchildren.
During his summers he worked for the U.S. Forest Service. He began in Fairview Canyon and finished in Joe's Valley. Dad loved his associations with his co-workers. He dearly loved the mountains. No surprise that in later years he purchased four wheelers and snowmobiles. He spent countless happy hours with his family exploring his beloved mountains.
Dad had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and served as ward clerk, stake clerk, stake presidency, and bishop. He especially loved working with the young men and home teaching with A.J. Anderson.
Dad is survived by his seven children: John Odell Stewart, Laurel Kay (Ted) Stromness, Eric Lee Stewart, Cindy Lou (Dave) Harris, Josie Ann (Carl) Gallegos, Peter Franklin (Vickie) Stewart, and Rosemary (Steven) Pickett, 27 grandchildren and 18 great grand children.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria, parents, brothers Mondell H and LaMar H "Joe", sister Athene H, grandson Neil Jay Stewart, great grandson, James Michael Dodds, and great granddaughter, Kaylee Nicole Pickett.
The family would like to express our gratitude to Dave and Dian Gibb at Manila Country Home in Pleasant Grove for the wonderful care they have given to Dad for the past year and a half. They and their caregivers loved him and treated him like family.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 27 at 11 am in the Fairview First Ward Chapel (122 South State). Friends may call on Friday evening at the same location from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. and from 9:45 am to 10:45 am prior to the funeral services.
Burial will be in the Fairview City Cemetery with military honors.

HI,
Just thought Darell was the Best, Doug loved doing things with Darell when they got together while Doug worked at Cox auto. They had fun lunches, rides, talks and just being to visit with each other.... We had fun 4-wheeler rides with him and Ding (1&2).
He was the funest friend, Thanks for your friendship Darell, we enjoyed it lots!!! We enjoyed his tales of China, and working in the hills of Utah... Cutting the cedar posts in Fairview for Scott, lots of fun time....Thanks for so much.....
