Earl Allen Cheney passed away Monday, Nov. 5, 2012 after a 10 ½ year battle with Alzheimers.
He was born June 28, 1922 to Horace and Olive Cheney in SLC. He lived most of his life in SLC.
He married Judith Hanson, later divorced. He married Sharon Sedgwick on Sept. 10, 1988, later sealed in the Jordan River Temple on Aug. 18, 2000.
He is survived by his loving wife and ten children, six of his own and four stepchildren: Susan (George) Jarvis, Karen (Jerry) Ith, Judy (Ray) LeVitre, Sonja (Lee) Labrum, Jolene (Gary) Ludvigson, Doug (Karen) Cheney, Debbie (Blaine) Foster, Rick Dunn, Kip (Janet) Dunn, Jeff Dunn, 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren.
Earl served in the US Navy in World War II. His ship, the USS Enterprise, was 100 miles out at sea when Pearl Harbor was bombed. He later transferred to the USS Token, a mine sweeper and was one of the ships that swept the bay for the Peace Treaty to be signed.
He learned his profession as an electrician while serving his country. And he became an electrical contractor and business owner for the past 21 years.
Funeral services will be Sat., Nov. 10, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Taylorsville 8th Ward at 1450 Tamarack Road (4650 So.). Viewing at the church Friday, Nov 9th from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to services. Burial in the SLC Cemetery. Directors Independent Funeral Services.
