Wendy Holdsworth Pearson Obituary
May 22, 1953 ~ December 27, 2012
Wendy Pearson passed away after a life-long struggle with many health problems, and breast cancer.
Wendy grew up in Holladay, UT-graduating from Olympus High School. Wendy will be remembered by friends of her youth for her beautiful voice, dramatic skills, skills in ballet, and strong spiritual gifts. Wendy starred in her
high school musical, danced in Ballet West's Nutcracker, participated in Mormon Youth Choir, and Promised Valley when it was performed at Temple Square. Although Wendy loved singing, dancing, and performing, she focused her life on what the Lord wanted her to do. She graduated from the University of Utah Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor degree in French, minoring in music, where she was a member of Phi Kappa Phi and Phi Beta Kappa. She was able to visit her "second home",
France and Europe, with her mother and sister prior to graduating. She married John E. Pearson in the Salt Lake Temple Aug. 24, 1973. Wendy was a dedicated mother and grandmother, and enjoyed instilling in her 3 daughters a love for home, beauty, the Gospel, and truth. In the 1990's she began working with her father, K. Jay Holdsworth, assisting him as a legal librarian and fulfilling paralegal duties. This care continued throughout the end of her father's life from Parkinson's Disease, and as she helped her mother, who has Alzheimer's Disease. Wendy also was able to have the "job of her dreams" from 2006-2010, as a music teacher and choir director at Jordan Hills Elementary. Wendy loved this job, working with the supportive faculty and children at Jordan Hills, and was sad to leave because of the return of her cancer. Wendy has righteously dealt with many trials in life, including many serious health problems. Wendy has served in the LDS Church in many capacities including as Primary President, counselor for Relief Society, teaching in both Young Women's and Primary, as a Gospel Doctrine Teacher, and as a Ward Missionary.
Wendy is survived by her husband, John E. Pearson of West Jordan, UT, and her daughters, son-in-law, and grandchildren: Sarah (Garth) Ince and children: Corianne, Wesley, and Melissa-of Parsons, KS; Dr. Mary Pearson of Conway, AR; Jocelyn Pearson of Parsons, KS. She is also survived by her mother, Donna S. Holdsworth; her siblings: Veda Hansen, David (Annette) Holdsworth, Kevin (Jennifer Sorensen) Holdsworth, Gary (Deanna) Holdsworth, and brother-in-law Lynn Hansen. Wendy was preceded in death by her father, K. Jay Holdsworth. She is also survived by many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members. We would like to thank all the members, past and present of the Jordan Oaks 2nd Ward for their loving care of our mother during her many illnesses, and the many medical professionals, including Community Nursing Services, who have lovingly cared for Wendy.
A viewing will be held Wed., Jan. 2, 2013 at McDougal Funeral Home on 4330 S.
