Patricia Ann Swain Evans "Beloved Wife and Mother" Patricia Ann Swain Evans, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend, and loved servant of our Heavenly Father, returned to him January 26, after a brave struggle with cancer. Pat was born March 11, 1941 in Vernal, Utah as the second child born to Wanda Collier and (Hap) Marion Swain. She grew up in Vernal. Mom married her high school sweetheart, Conrad Evans, Sept. 18, 1957 in the Salt Lake Temple. Dad and mom spent 48 short years together. They had six children. Pat and Conrad lived a short time in Salt Lake City, Arcadia, UT, Twin Falls, ID, Lagrande, OR, and Orem, UT. Before moving to Salt Lake City were she completed her time here on earth amongst the greatest friends and neighbors that can be found. Where ever she lived, she served. She was Primary president twice, Jr. Sunday School coordinator, counselor to Young Women's president, Relief Society president, and 17 years as Blazer and Cub Scout leader. Her final assignment which she enjoyed so much was as an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple, amongst choice sisters. Pat loved the sisters wherever she lived and served, and expressed gratitude and love to those whom she served with in her callings. Pat opened her heart and home to everyone. She taught her children and grandchildren to see beauty in the world. Pat found joy in gardening, beautifying her yard and home, painting, making quilts, and sewing. Her motto was "If your mind can perceive it, and your heart can believe it...then your hands can achieve it." She truly "bloomed wherever she was planted." She is survived by her husband, Conrad Evans; six children, Patty Johnson (Dave), Shawna Hardman (Jim), Conrad Jr. (Marianne), Ben (Jamie), Yvonne Flanders, Beth Winn (Jay); as well as 20 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Lloyd Swain (Shelia), H. Karl Swain (Linda), Joann Marnell, (Dale), Bill Richards (Marnell), Clifford Richards (Nila), Jim Richards (Becky), Ron Richards (Terry) Kristene Cooper (Brent) Terrell Richards (Julene); father, Marion (Hap) Swain (Sue); a very much loved aunt and uncle Lila (Keith) Caldwell. She is preceded in death by grandson, Sheldon Johnson; sister, Betty Merrell; parents, Ben and Wanda Richards; grandparents, Walter and Elizabeth Collier. Special thanks to the Relief Society sisters in the Millstream Ward, The wonderful people of IHC Hospice, Huntsman Cancer Institute, Heart Center, and an extra special thank you to Barbara Showell of the Heart Center, Dr. Michael Jones and Dr. DiFiore. Funeral services will be 12 noon Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at Salt Lake Grant Stake Center (3153 South 900 East). Viewing will be 6-8 p.m. Monday January 30, at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street, Murray. Also viewing prior to service 10:30-11:45 a.m. Internment, Vernal Cemetery (1900 So. 500 E, Vernal, UT) Wednesday, February 1, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the LDS perpetual education fund.
