Wanda W. Rowley Obituary
1929 ~ 2013
Wanda Whitmore Rowley, 84, passed away on June 10, 2013 at her daughter's home.
Wanda was born April 22, 1929 in Midvale, Utah, the daughter of James M. and Cora Lindsay Whitmore. She graduated from Jordan High School and attended the University of Utah and Weber State College.
She married T. Leonard Rowley in the Salt Lake Temple on September 9, 1949. Their married life was spent in Ogden, North Ogden and Bountiful.
She was employed at the J.C. Penney Company in Ogden and as a para-professional at North Ogden Junior High School for 14 years.
Her greatest interest was her family. She loved and was loved by four sons and one daughter, 20 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.
She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her favorite calling was chorister. She also served in ward and stake Relief Society presidencies. She and her husband served a mission in the Virginia Roanoke Mission. She participated in more than 2000 temple ordinances. She was an active member of Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
Wanda enjoyed genealogy, collecting family histories, keeping scrapbooks, photo albums, and books of remembrance. She kept a daily journal for 53 years.
With her husband, she visited most of the states in the United States, many foreign countries and islands. From each trip, she brought home cherished souvenirs. She was especially fond of elephant figurines.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Wayne Whitmore Rowley and two brothers, LaVoy and Keith Whitmore.
She is survived by her husband of Bountiful; three sons and one daughter, Greg (Ruth) Rowley of Providence, Janet (Randy) Williams of Bountiful, Gerald (Valorie) Rowley of Morgan, Lynn Kyle Rowley of San Francisco, CA; and a daughter-in-law, Linda (Wayne) Rowley of Roy. She is also survived by one brother, Robert (Phyllis) Whitmore of Salt Lake City and one sister, Merle (Stephen) Sudbury; two sisters-in-law, Reveau (LaVoy) Whitmore and Alice (Keith) Whitmore all of Sandy.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 17, 2013 at the Bountiful 39th Ward Chapel, 1500 South 600 East, Bountiful, Utah. A viewing will be held on Sunday, June 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, Utah and Monday at the church prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:40 a.m. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, 526 East 2850 North, North Ogden, Utah.
