South Jordan, Utah-Loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, Walter L. Latshaw Jr., 90, was received into his Heavenly Father's arms on Monday, July 1, 2013. Walter was born in Manhattan, Kansas to Walter L. Latshaw and Margaret N. Fesmire on October 6, 1922. He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Mary Jane Schricker; his two children, Becky Moffat (Bruce) and Mike Latshaw (Suzan); six grandchildren, David Pulley, Danielle Latshaw, Christopher Latshaw, James Latshaw, Megan Moffat and Kirsten Moffat; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Marie L.Watson.
Walter served in the Army Signal Corps during World War II and retired from the Army Reserves after 20 years of service achieving the rank of Captain. He was deeply patriotic and loved his country. Walter was also a lifelong Boy Scout where he received his Eagle Scout. His devotion to scouting continued as an adult where he also achieved the On My Honor Award, District Award of Merit, Scouters Training Award, Wood Badge, Scouters Key and he was presented with a Silver Beaver for his many years of service to the Boy Scouts. Walter worked at Simplex Time Recorder Co. as the area branch manager for over 30 years. He was an avid duck hunter, stamp collector, and coin collector. Walter will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Walter's family wishes to express their gratitude to those at Legacy Village of Taylorsville for their loving care and devotion.
An end of life celebration for family and friends will be held in his honor at the Latshaw-Moffat home 11152 South Belmont Hills Place (2995 West) South Jordan, Utah on Sunday, July 7th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 8th at 10:00 am at the Wasatch Lawn South Valley Cemetery 13001 South 3600 West, Riverton, Utah. In lieu of flowers please make donations in his memory to the Great Salt Lake Council of Boy Scouts of America at 525 Foothill Blvd. SLC, UT 84113.
