Christopher Smith Obituary
1964 ~ 2013
Surrounded by his loving family, Christopher Scott Smith, peacefully passed from this life on August 30, 2013, in the beauty of his home, in Midway Utah. Chris passed at the age of 49, after an exemplary and courageous, year long battle with colon cancer. He led a life filled with the joy and unceasing labor of serving his family and others.
Chris was born on Long Island, New York, to Peter and Carol Smith on April 15, 1964. After returning from an LDS mission to Baton-Rogue Louisiana, the city boy found his country girl, Lezlie Porter, and the two were married and sealed for time and all eternity in the Manti LDS Temple. He then attended Brigham Young University, and studied construction management with a dream to build the world. Chris built the world and did what he loved as he spent 20 years working for Layton Construction, where he had the chance to construct buildings and structures for the world to see.
During his battle with cancer, Chris was often overwhelmed by the kindness and service that so many people had shown him; and his family is forever grateful for the many family members and friends that have shown such kindness.
Chris has left a legacy that not many people are able to live up to, and will be missed by the many people who have known and been served by him. His greatest building in life, and the one that will miss him the most is his family; his wife, and six children who love and miss him dearly: Jordan, Casey, Ethan, Erica, Madison, and Corbin.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 3, at 12:00 noon, at the Midway LDS Stake Center, located at 165 N. Center St. in Midway Utah, where a viewing will be held prior to the funeral services from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM. A previous viewing will be held at the Olpin Hoopes Funeral Home on Monday, September 2, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, located at 288 N. Main St. in Heber City. Chris will be buried in the Midway, Utah Cemetery.
