Obituary Condolences

Jerry O. Bingham
1937 ~ 2013
South Jordan, Utah-Gerald (Jerry) Owen Bingham, born on January 15, 1937 to Hazel and Owen (Bish) Bingham, succumbed to cancer on November 4th, 2013. Jerry graduated from Provo High School in 1955. He loved his country and chose to serve by enlisting in the United States Army on July 13, 1956. He proudly served in the 82nd Airborne Division/Foreign as a paratrooper and was awarded sharpshooter citations for both rifle and pistol. He was Honorably Discharged on July 12, 1962. He married the love of his life and eternal companion Laura June Preece on August 3, 1962. Jerry loved family vacations, whether it was deer hunting with his dad and brothers or boating with his family on Lake Powell, he was at his happiest spending time in the outdoors. Second only to his family was his beloved 1967 Camaro. He carefully restored this beauty to its original glory and proudly traveled about the valley turning heads wherever he went. Jerry obtained his Certification of Completion of Apprenticeship from Kennecott Copper Corp. in the trade of machinist on September 16, 1975. He retired from Kennecott after 39 years of service in February of 1999. After retirement, he and his wife discovered a new passion, traveling. He visited many exotic locations and loved sharing them with his lovely wife. He was an avid football fan and never missed a BYU game. He met many people as strangers but never a one left not calling him friend. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, great grandfather, husband, son, brother and uncle. His earthly presence in our family will be deeply missed. We know his heavenly reunion today will include his beloved dogs, Heidi, Char, Muggins and Gus. We love you dad.
Jerry leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Laura, his children Tamera (Rick), Lori (Dave), Lynda (Kirt) and Brad (Nicole), 23 grand kids and 8 great grand kids. Brothers David (Arlene) and Wayne (Jenny-deceased) and Sisters Charlene (Randall) and DiAnn (John) his in laws Dick (Marilyn) and Brent (Pam), Darrell and Nancy.
