1922 ~ 2014|
James Buchanan, our sweet, precious father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away Feb 7th 2014. He is greatly loved by all and will be missed terribly.
James was born Sept. 15, 1922 in Bay Springs, Mississippi to Foster Columbus Buchanan and Annie Jane McWilliams and was the third of six children. His family worked as sharecroppers and he learned the value of hard, honest work at a young age. James served his country proudly as a United States Marine during WWII. After the war, he moved to Knoxville Tennessee where he met and married the absolute love of his life, Imogene Spears. In 1962 they drove from Tennessee to Utah with their four little children to be sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. James was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in many church callings throughout his life. James always knew his most important calling was to love, support, cherish and honor his family; they have always been his greatest treasure.
He was preceded in death by all of his siblings and his beloved wife, Imogene Spears. He is survived by one son and three daughters; Patricia (Mike), Gloria (Rob), Jim (Jana), Joanna (Steve), thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The family is thankful for the staff at Jamestown for their loving, compassionate care of our dear father.
