Thomas Roland Van Wagoner Obituary
Oct. 1, 1924 ~ March 12, 2014
Tom passed away peacefully on March 12th, 2014 in Ashland, Oregon at the age of eighty nine. Thomas Roland Van Wagoner was born to Murray and Maxine Van Wagoner on October 1st, 1924 in Salt Lake City, Utah. There he attended Stewart School, East High, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Utah. In WWII, Tom served his country as a pilot in the US Navy, stationed in Florida where he attained the rank of Lieutenant. After his service, he returned to Utah and married his sweetheart Carol Elaine Crandall and raised three children, Stephen, Kristina, and Victoria in a historic home in Fairmont Park, once lived in by Brigham Young. Tom was a very talented man who worked as a Sales Engineer, Stock Broker, Real Estate Broker, Financial Advisor, and ended his professional career as owner of a Data Sales firm.
Tom is survived by his wife of 68 years Carol, his son Stephen and his daughter Victoria and her husband John Moran, his brother Jim and wife Joyce Van Wagoner, and grandsons Paris Van Wagoner and Brian Woodard.
"TR" as he was fondly known by, was one of those rare human beings whose rationality ruled his life. He was centered and almost always positive in spirit and attitude. Tom was a cheerful and tireless worker who lovingly took great care of his family. He was a problem solver who was never deterred and would always find a solution. Tom was generous to a fault, and what few faults he had, we adored him for. We will miss him enormously.
