Madelyn and Marcus Yensen Obituary
1920 ~ 04/07/15
Madelyn E Yensen was born in 1920 in Toledo, Ohio. She died in her home in Salt Lake City, Utah on April 7, 2015. Her parents were Alice B Stone and Robert Calkins. Madelyn married Marcus J Yensen on October 17, 1940, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She and Marcus had three children together: Marcus A Yensen (Leesa); Carol Bradford (John); and Byron Yensen (Emmy). They were blessed with eight grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and another great grandchild coming in the summer.
Marcus J Yensen was born in 1920 in Boise, Idaho. Marcus died at Avalon Care Center 6 hours after Madelyn died on April 7, 2015. His parents were Anna Benton and J. N. Yensen. Marcus had a life long career as a railroad employee for the Union Pacific Railroad and the family had many adventures traveling on trains to visit family and friends. Madelyn is survived by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her sister Marilyn Bonner. Marcus is survived by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and his brother Harry Yensen.
As in life, Marcus and Madelyn would not be separated by death. Marcus died of heart failure; but he refused to leave without Madelyn, who died quickly after suffering a seizure. Being the gentlemen he always was, and showing the eternal love they had together, Marcus held the gates of heaven open so Madelyn could walk in first, then followed her.
Marcus donated his body to the University of Utah. Madelyn was cremated per her wishes. Memorial Service will be held May 9th, 2015 at 1:00pm, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Salt Lake City, Utah. Both Marcus and Madelyn wanted their ashes placed in the garden at St. Paul's church, and requested that any donations be made directly to St Paul's Church.
