Allan DeVaul Obituary

Allan Wayne DeVaul

1965 ~ 2016
Today May 25, 2016, I said good-bye to the man I love with all my heart. The one I have lived with, slept with, played with, laughed with and cried with for the past 30 years.
Allan was a good man, his heart and hands ready and willing to help those in need. Family was very important to him. He loved and cherished his time with nieces and nephews. He loved to make others laugh and he always had all the "toys" to do that with. But his body came to the point; it could go no further...so he willingly slipped his hand in that of his Heavenly Father to wait for our family's re-union in Heaven. I'm sure Grandma Carma and Tonya will be excited to see him and show him the way.
Allan was the first born child of Fred Allen DeVaul and Lois Jacobsen DeVaul. Born on December 2, 1965, Raised in Salt Lake City and graduated from West High in 1984, he married his life's companion Jackie Sue Nelson Geswaldi. We have stood together through thick and thin, always assured of our love for each other.
Allan worked as a Technical Writer for L3 for the past 20 years. There he gained the respect and friendship of his fellow employees. Being the "go to" guy to fix or correct all the documents and proposals etc. Anyone who met Allan was no doubt touched by his generosities and personal commitments. Allan lived each day to the fullest surrounding himself with positive energy and people that meant so much to him.
He is survived by his wife Jackie, his mother Lois Jacobsen DeVaul Austin Williamson and (step father) Doug Williamson, brother Dale DeVaul & Dale's sons, Bruce, Brett and Joshua, Sister Tonya's kids, Zac, Shelby and Mckensie, Sister-in-law Pat Stone, Uncle Lynn Jacobsen, Uncle Glen Jacobsen (Jackie) and their kids, Craig, Lori and DuWayne, and his Step Brother Roland Austin (Dawn) and their kids, Chris, Amber, Elizabeth and Dallas.
Preceded in death by his father Fred Allen DeVaul, and Grandparents Carma and Lee Jacobsen and baby sister Tonya Eldridge Starks and (step father) Stan Austin.
In lieu of flowers-Hug your family, wife or kids or take your best friend out to dinner or donate to your favorite charity. If still wanting to send flowers please send to McDougal Funeral Home by Tuesday afternoon.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 1st at 12:00 pm at the Country Park 4th Ward, 11251 S. 2700 W., South Jordan, Utah, where a viewing will be held prior to services from 10:00 - 11:45 am. Burial to follow at Elysian Gardens, 1075 E. 4580 S. Millcreek, Utah 84117.

To a great man that I spent many many years celebrating our birthdays with. My children had a treasure of great proportions by having you in their life. Your love, compassion, and friendship was a great attraction to our hearts. You brought joy and laughter to all my children and myself throughout our lives. I will always cherish our time and pray for our families recovery from this great loss. With all my love.

Allan, you were such a kind-hearted wonderful friend at L3. We could always count on you for a smile and to pull us through the tough deadlines. I never heard you say anything unkind about anyone, and that's a tough thing to do sometimes. It was my pleasure to know you, and may God bless you and your family. Thanks for making life a little better for all of us. You will be sorely missed.

I was privileged and honored to work with Allan at L-3. Allan was a thoughtful, kind and generous person. When he returned to work from his much-anticipated trip to Italy last year, he bought little calendars and souvenirs for some of us, his co-workers, and shared pictures from his trip. When my grandmother died this year, he left a sympathy card on my desk with a very thoughtful note.
Allan was one of four of us who would try to visit a new ethnic restaurant every month, and I enjoyed the talks we would have on our lunch visits. He was always willing to do any task that was needed, and he often stepped in to help with editing proposals when I was over-worked or absent. His devotion to his job, as well as his desire to befriend everyone he worked with, was always apparent. He never complained and was always a joy to be around. I am shocked and saddened by his passing. My condolences and Jackie and the rest of his family. He will be missed by many, and I certainly will miss him a lot.

It was my pleasure and honor to have known and worked with Allan at L-3. I have not worked with anyone as kind, well natured or intelligent as Allan. He can never be replaced and he will not be forgotten. It was my privilege to call Allan my friend. My thoughts and prayers are with your family at his most difficult time.

Allan, may God protect and bless you as well as your family. I testify that you will be together again.

Jackie, where to begin, Allan was always so funny, joked around to make you laugh despite everyone teasing him back telling him to get lost while he would try to sneak into the kitchen sneaking a bite while we all prepared the food and treats for the family get together (birthday party, or family event, Holiday). I was part of the family for a time and always loved his antics and humor, who couldn't! right? he was always kind and funny and I thought so highly of him. I can only say how sad that life keeps us all so busy that we don't keep in touch like we should, though you all have always been in my thoughts. It seems things like this bring loved ones and family, friends together. My own sadness and grief is tremendous so I can only imagine yours and your loss. My deepest heart felt condolences to you Jackie. Also to Dale, Roland, Lois and the rest of the family, I know most all of you. God Bless You Allan you will be missed by you loved ones till you all meet again. My Sincere Condolences to you Jackie and Family and friends.

I am grateful I had the pleasure of working with Allan. He was so approachable and never to busy to lend a helping hand. Allan was compassionate, kind and had a great sense of humor. Allan will be missed but never forgotten.

Allan started working with us after I had worked with his mother Lois for years. He always gave 110%, I knew I could get help from him on anything. He was the glue that held the group together from day one.
