During the past years, I have known Max as "Maxie", a loving term of endearment given to him by his family. I have known Bob and Heidi for many, many years. My youngest son, Greg, married Bob and Heidi's dear Lisa--an amazing and wonderful daughter-in-law.

My memory of Maxie is that whenever I would see him at a family dinner, usually at the home of Greg and Lisa, he had a wonderful smile and was so kind and warm in greeting me. He also loved to tell military stories which would have everyone erupt in laughter.

My loving condolences to Maxie's family and friends. Sincerely, Sherlyn Marks

Through The National Exchange Club, Max and I became friends. Max swore me in as New England Exchange Clubs District President in 1990. He was a great Exchangite, a good friend, and a gentleman. He will be missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace. Robert (Buffalo Bob) Harb, Exchange Club National President 1999-2000.

Such fond memories we have of Max and Marilyn. He was always so friendly and fun to be around. Our thoughts are with his family at this time.

Max was a great man and I think about him often.
I think of him when I drive by the tennis court and remember how much Max loved tennis.
I think of him when I walk by his former house on Chrismark.
I think of him when I go to the temple and remember how Max would often comment how fortunate he was that during his entire life, he had always lived close to a temple. (That's a lot easier now but was not so easy four decades ago.)
I think of him when I see the picture of my dad and uncle in their Marine uniforms and recall that Max was in the Marine Corps in that generation.
I think of him when I watch the old JAG reruns on television.
I think of him when I wear my "Max Halliday" tie. I have a brown tie from Nordstrom's that is similar to a tie that Max had from Nordstrom's. He would jokingly say that he would leave me that tie in his will. (That's not necessary because I already have my "Max Halliday" tie.)
Max was a great example of how to serve our country, our church, and our community. We here in San Diego were greatly enriched by the presence of Max and Marilyn.
