Andrade, Oscar Roberto
Oscar Roberto Andrade May 8, 1941 - January 21, 2015 Oscar Roberto Andrade was born May 8, 1941 in Guadalajara, Mexico to his mother Beatriz Gutierrez and his father Roberto Andrade. On January 21, 2015, he passed away in Ontario, CA. Following Oscar's birth, he spent his childhood in Mexico City. His mother, a medical doctor, passed away when Oscar was only 12 years old. Following his mother's death, he lived with a number of family members, with whom he developed close life long relationships. He was very close to his father. At 12 years old, he moved to Morelia and attended the Instituto Vallodolid. He completed high school in Mexico City. He studied architecture and engineering at the University of Mexico. Oscar met his wife Sylvia during a group date. Sylvia, who majored in Spanish, came to Mexico with a U of R group. Oscar and Sylvia were drawn to each other's sense of adventure and humor. Following Sylvia's return to the U.S, they continued to write. Oscar moved to Redlands to study at San Bernardino Valley College, and later married Sylvia. Oscar and Sylvia quickly created a large family. They had 1 son and 7 daughters. Tragically, their eldest daughter Beatrice passed away in1969. With their children, Oscar and Sylvia shared a love for learning and adventure. They often took trips together with their children, which Oscar saw as learning opportunities. They also shared with their children their sense of humor and Oscar's particular love of silliness, which he shared with his father. Oscar worked as a Spanish court interpreter and also prepared taxes for clients he retained for many years. He had a natural ability to develop friendships and loved to engage others in conversation. He also had a great love of learning. At the time of his passing, he was studying art history, the development of language and writing systems, and the brain. He loved to tell jokes and had an irreverent sense of humor. He was generous, encouraging, and affectionate with those he loved. Oscar is survived by his wife Sylvia, his children: Robert, Genevieve, Eileen, Nicole, Kathy, Sunshine and Elizabeth, his grandchildren: Christa, Gary, John, Autumn, Raelynn, Matthew, Sam, Sierra, and Lucia, and his great-grandchildren: Issac, Kayla, and Tyler.
