Dorothy Jean Copp Rowland Dorothy Jean Copp Rowland "Dottie D. Babe" of Barstow, California died Wednesday the 30th of March in her home in Encinitas, California, surrounded by her loving family. Her husband Donald D. Rowland, the light of her life, was waiting for her on the other side. Dorothy worked for the Barstow Unified School District as a Secretary at the Elementary, Junior, and High School levels. Dorothy and Don left Barstow for Northern California and later retired to La Costa, California. Dorothy loved visiting with her family and the company of her cats, Sahara and Cyrus. She enjoyed classic movies and sweet treats, big band jazz music, and reading. Dorothy's parents, William and Edith (Cotton) Copp, her sisters Edith Mary Copp Van Deusen, Shirley Katherine Copp Beard, Wilma Helen Copp Mack and her brother, Louis "Bud" Annen Copp, have all gone ahead of her to prepare the way. She is survived by her sister Elizabeth "Betty" Copp Coulter. Her children and their spouses Deborah Katherine Davis, Denise Patricia (Rowland) and Jerry Meek, Diane Marie (Rowland) Kaats and Matthew Bershaw, Dennis Mitchell and Betty Jean (Smith) Rowland, and David and Arthur Shaffer Rowland mourn her loss. Her grandchildren, Jean (Wilkins) and Eric Bevel, Jared and Tirzah Wilkins, Mary Davis and her fiancé Terence Schmidt, Michelle and Allison Meek, Lisa Kaats and Nikolas Billings, Greg Kaats and Paula Corsaro, Donald Rowland and his fiancé Nicole Spence, and Elgin and Kiffen Menendez-Rowland, have sweet and loving memories of their Grandmother. Her great-grandchildren Luke and Lilla Wilkins and Marlowe Rowland loved their Grandma Rowland and all her treats. Her extended surviving family includes Michael Copp, Susan Van Deusen McFadden, Margaret San Millan, Jim and Jean Mack, Bobbi Mack Smith, Craig Coulter and Colleen Coulter Neugebauer. A graveside memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, May 14th, at 11:00 am at the Mountain View Memorial Park Cemetery in Barstow.
