Daniel J. Roberts

DANIEL J. ROBERTS 5/3/1946 - 10/4/2013 Daniel J. Roberts, 67, of Grafton passed away Friday October 4, 2013 after a long illness at home and surrounded by his family. He was born on May 3, 1946 in Quantico VA to the late Howard and Shirley Ruth (nee Brundage) Roberts. Daniel was a resident of Riverside CA most of his life, moving to Grafton in 2007. Daniel attended St. Louis University and Los Angeles Trade Tech where he studied culinary arts. He worked for Saint Joseph Hospital as their head chef for several years. After leaving culinary arts Daniel began to work for the Cities of Orange and Riverside CA as the Parks Superintendent. Daniel was an avid sports fan, especially the Dodgers, and coached little league and football. He also enjoyed camping and fishing. Daniel spent many hours working on drag cars with his sons and attending the races. He was an amazing cook and liked to spend his time in the kitchen. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and his words of wisdom. Daniel was always thinking of others and will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. Daniel is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Dorlinda (nee Spiess), sons Tom (Katie) Roberts of Wellington OH, and Mike (Adriana) Roberts of Victorville CA, grandson Joe (Stephanie) Roberts of Victorville CA, a sister Penny Camarena of Wildomar CA and a nephew David Francies of New Hope AL. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 18, 2013 beginning at 3 p.m. at the Wellington First Congregational United Church of Christ, 140 South Main St., Wellington OH, with Rev. Brian Burke officiating. Donations in Daniel's memory may be directed to Mercy Cancer Center, 41201 Shadden Rd., Elyria OH 44035.
