WILLIAM CROSS Our beloved William "Willie" Michael (W.M.) Cross, passed from this life into the grace and holiness of his Lord and Savior, on March 13, 2013. Born in Batesville, Mississippi October 12, 1946, he grew up in Los Angeles, and later lived in several southern California areas as a young adult, before making his home in Barstow for his remaining 36 years. He was employed as a truck driver for Yellow Freight for 33 years, honored with many safety awards during his career. He sang in a gospel group "Sons of Faith," and traveled to many different locations providing love and hope to all. Willie also loved listening to country western music and playing dominoes with his many friends. He had an appreciation for building and welding many things, and spent many hours teaching his daughter how to weld. Willie will be remembered for his kindness and thoughtfulness to others. If he could help anybody he did. But most of all, he lived, loved and treasured his time with his family. Willie is survived by his loving wife, Verna (whom he married on December 24, 1988) of Barstow; 5 sons, Calvin Cross (Walterine) of Memphis, TN., Willie Cross Jr. of Los Angeles, CA., Christopher Cross of San Bernardino, CA., Calvin Encalade (Stacie) of Barstow, CA., Adren Encalade (Sandra) of Barstow, CA.; 5 daughters, Jeanette Brown (Norman) of Fullerton, CA., Shirley Moore (Michael) of Stanton, CA., Stephanie Edwards (Frank) of Buckeye, AZ., Meika Thigpen (Kevin) of El Paso, TX., Sarah Cross (David) of Victorville, CA.; 22 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mom, Caliie and father, Elie Cross of Batesville, MS. A Celebration of Willie's Life will be held Friday March 29, 2013, at Union Missionary Baptist Church, 1360 Riverside Drive in Barstow. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. with Services at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Mountain View Memorial Park, 37067 Irwin Road in Barstow. Arrangements entrusted to Horizon Memorial Services of Barstow.
