Carrol Jean Greenwood
June 11, 1929 - August 3, 2017
Our mother, Carrol Jean Greenwood, returned to her eternal home August 3, 2017 at 12:05 am. She was 88 years young. She came into this world on June 11, 1929 in Los Angeles, California, born to Charles and Viola (Foote) Bray. Carrol was preceded in death by her husband, George Alma Greenwood Sr., and sons George Jr., and David Nolan Greenwood, both of Hinkley. She leaves behind a sister, Patricia (Edward) Pullan of Arizona, son Phillip (Katherine) Greenwood of Oregon, and daughter Ruth Langley of Barstow, as well as 12 grandchildren, many great and great-great grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was also eagerly looking forward to the birth of her first great-great-great grandchild to be born in October. Carrol was a loving wife and mother as well as a wonderful and succesful employee of the San Bernardino County Library, where she was one of the drivers for the County Bookmobile. Everyone she dealt with loved her. She retired and then went to work for the USPS for twenty years. She mainly worked at the Hinkley facility and often substituted at many other offices around the area. Everyone that came into contact with our mother loved her. She helped others before herself. She will be sorely missed by family and friends. Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 19, 2017, at the Hinkley Senior/Community Center, 11am-1pm, 35997 Mountain View Rd., Hinkley, CA.
She will be laid to rest in Ferron, Utah at a later date.

I know Carrol will be missed by many. I used to enjoy the evenings her & I would get together & do our cross stitch. She was a wonderful friend. RIP Carrol & we will meet again one day.

The Friends of the Barstow Library group send our condolences to Carrol's family. She faithfully provided outstanding bookmobile services to her patrons despite breakdowns, bad weather, etc. while traveling many miles every day. She was an example of strength and resilience to all. The Friends group has donated funds in memory of Carrol for new library books for Barstow Branch Library.

All San Bernardino County Library staff will greatly miss Carrol. She was our Barstow Bookmobile driver and brought much joy to readers all over the Mojave Desert. She is undoubtedly up in heaven already telling Bookmobile stories.
