HARVEY CHARLES GAMBLE SR. 10/12/1929 - 8/31/2013 Harvey Gamble Sr. passed away on the evening of August 31st in Hesperia, California to the sound of polka music on the high desert. He was the 7th child of 8 children of Arthur Gamble and Elsie (Ditman) Gamble. Born in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, he worked for the P&LE railroad and then later as a union carpenter. He moved to Ohio and married Martha Sylvester and had 3 children. Looking for a better life, they moved to California and had their 4th child. He was married to Martha for 25 years. He was active in polka and round dancing throughout the years and he loved a party. He retired in 1985 and moved to the Victorville area living with his son for several years and then Julia Ferguson for 13 years. In 2010, Harvey developed serious lung problems and moved to Devine Assisted Living in Hesperia where he received hospice and was visited by his family and friends. He passed on the evening of August 31st after being visited by his daughter, granddaughter, and great granddaughter that morning. Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Jess and Joe, sisters Bertha, Anne and Cecil, daughter Diana, and grandson Ross Lyons, his 2nd and 3rd wives. He is survived by his sister Caroline Jones of Pennsylvania, brother Kenneth (Thelma) Gamble of Ohio, his first wife Martha, daughters Eileen (George) Lyons of San Jose and Vickie (Thomas) Dyrness of Glendale, son Harvey (Lynn) Gamble Jr of Phelan. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, numerous neices, nephews and cousins, his friend Julia Ferguson and many other friends. Harvey was cremated and a memorial service will be held on September 27th, from 2pm to 6pm at the clubhouse of the Golden West Mobile Home Park, 15252 Seneca Rd. in Victorville, where he lived for many years.
