JULIUS "SKIP" MICHAELS (MICHNOWSKI) Skip, born April, 16, 1923, in Sharon, Pa. to Thomas and Caroline (Kobialko) Michnowski, passed away at his home in Helendale, Calif. at the age of 90. Skip was a WWII Army veteran, a steelworker in Warren, OH, and after moving his family to Whittier, Calif., continued with the steel industry until his retirement in 1988. He and his wife, Midge, moved to Helendale (Silver Lakes), Calif. to enjoy golf and entertaining. He is preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Caroline Michnowski of Sharon, Pa., brother Casimir Michaels of Sharon, Pa., and sister Jean Racketa of Vero Beach, Fla. He is survived by Midge, his wife of 70 years; sister Laura Musial (97) of Sharon, Pa.; children Carol (Lee) Weber of Greenville, Pa., Thomas (Rochelle) Michaels of Medford, Ore., John (Patricia) Michaels of Helendale, Calif., and Dan (Janice) Michaels of Lompoc, Calif.; grandchildren Bill Petersen of Austin, Tex., Karin Grassl-Petersen of Fort Worth, Tex., Bryan Michaels of Roseburg, Ore., Jason Michaels of Medford, Ore., Paul Michaels of Lompoc, Calif., and Lauren Michaels of Lompoc, Calif.; six great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and his beloved cat, Freeway. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. April 16, 2014 at Riverside National Cemetery. Condolences can be sent to Midge Michaels, P.O. Box 846, Helendale, CA 92342.
