MARY LOUISE (Luisa) TOQUINTO In the early morning of February 27, after ninety-three years of laughter, love, and an unyielding devotion to family and friends, Mary Louise passed away peacefully at her home. She was born on January 2, 1920 in El Paso, Texas and had lived in Los Angeles, Sonoma, and San Diego before moving to Apple Valley in 1985. Mary worked in clothing boutiques and always had a flair for fashion, dressing women to look their best, including those who frequented LoLo's at the famous Apple Valley Inn. She was the epitome of style, grace, and beauty, even up until the time of her passing. Mary was adored by all who knew her, and she in turn welcomed all into her home with never-ending generosity, immeasurable kindness, and, of course, something to eat. She had a passion for reading, sewing, and showering all those in her life with love. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Francisco and Soledad Gutierrez; her siblings, Phyllis, Chuey, and Frank; and her husband, Alfonso. She is survived, and continues to be loved, by her daughters, Rose Marie Smith (Alex), Yolanda Austin (Daniel), and Nannette Magnani (Stephen); her grandchildren, Gabrielle Almagor (Tomer), Vanessa Carewe (Tyler), Anthony Austin (Adrienne), Sarah Magnani, and Elena Austin (Chris); her great-grandchildren, Luca, Shane, Dylan, and Addelyn; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and countless friends. She was truly the matriarch of her family. We will all miss and love her forever, but we take comfort knowing she is in heaven surrounded by angels. Mom and Dad are once again laughing and dancing together. A celebration of her life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Sunset Hills Memorial Park.
