ROBERT "BOBBY" ALFRED HARTMAN Robert "Bobby" Alfred Hartman, 65, entered into eternal peace on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Barstow Community Hospital. Bobby was born in Van Nuys, California on December 25, 1947, to Louis and Kathryn Hartman. Bobby joined the U.S. Air Force after graduating from Adolfo Camarillo High School and became a Firefighter, serving overseas in the late 1960s. After military service, he joined the federal government fire service and served in Ventura County on San Nicholas Island. Bobby became paramedic qualified and moved up to become a Fire Captain before retiring. Bobby was a loyal person with a sweet, gentle spirit, and could always be counted on to help one in need. He will be forever in our hearts. Bobby loved his boat, fishing, and growing his vegetable garden every year. He was a sports enthusiast and always cheered on his team, the New England Patriots. Bobby was one to never miss a Friday night poker game with his buddies and Tuesday movie night with Karen. He was very talented in woodworking and was always doing home improvement renovations. His creative talent is reflected in his sister's home, and his home is a beautiful reflection of what he loved: a nautical-themed paradise with all his favorite mermaids! Bobby is survived by his brother Richard Louis Hartman and his wife Linda, who live in Virginia; his sister Lucy DuVall Johnson and her husband Brian, who live in Apple Valley; and his devoted girlfriend Karen Portz. Also, loving nieces Cindy Clem, Shannon Hartman, Sabrina Hartman, Windy Hartman, and wonderful nephews Louis Carl Hartman II and Richard William Hartman, along with other relatives. Last but not least, his best friend in the world, his 15 year old dog "Buddy" who will be lost without him. Bobby was extremely proud to have been a career Firefighter, a Veteran, and for catching big fish! The Military Honors Burial will be on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, beginning at 9:45am through 10:00am at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, California 92518. A celebration of Bobby's life will follow the service at the home of Lucy and Brian Johnson.
