SHIRLEY JOHNSON Shirley Camilla Johnson, a resident of Barstow for 55 years, entered into the loving hands of Jesus on Sunday, December 2, 2012. She was born July 2, 1932 in Montebello, CA to Frank and Jessie Spoonemore. A Southern California girl, she graduated from Mark Keppel High School, Alhambra, in 1950. She also attended Pasadena City College. In 1952, she decided she wanted to see the world, so she enlisted in the United States Army, where she was a clerk at Camp Stoneman, Pittsburg, CA, and later, after becoming a Sergeant, she became a recruiter and was assigned to duty in Tokyo, Japan and Spokane, WA. In 1955, she married JC Johnson. In 1958, JC, a Sergeant in the United States Army, was transferred to Camp Irwin. It was then she made Barstow their home for the past 54 years. A homemaker, Shirley dedicated her life as a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. An active member of First Baptist Church Barstow, she dedicated the past 35 years as the church organist. She was also a 50 year member of the order of Eastern Star, as well as the International Order of Job's Daughters. Shirley was proceeded in death by her husband JC and sons Michael and Steven. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Gregory and Nancy Johnson of Daggett, CA, daughter and son-in-law Patricia and Bob Berczynski of Visalia, CA, son and daughter-in-law Patrick and Stephanie Johnson of Willow Springs, NC, and son Curtis Johnson of Vancouver, WA. She is also survived by her grandchildren who she cherished dearly Ð Lauren and Sarah Johnson, Bryan Berczynski, and Zachery and Jessie Wilkerson, and Shirley's brother Bill Spoonemore of Lake Havasu, AZ. Services will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church, Barstow. Burial will be private. "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
