SHIRLEY LEE ARMSTRONG Memorial Services for Shirley Lee Armstrong, 84, of Victorville will be held on Friday January 11, 2013 at 10AM at Victor Valley Mortuary. 760-245-8164. Per her wishes cremation rites have been accorded. Shirley Lee Armstrong was born on July 10, 1928 and passed away on Saturday January 5, 2013 in Apple Valley. Born in Denver, Colorado she was the daughter of Ruby M. McElvain and stepfather Louis E. McElvain (both deceased). Shirley married Darrell K. Harshbarger who preceded her in death. He passed in 1979. Shirley was a registered nurse for 40 years. She attended the United Methodist Church in Victorville. Being very active in the community, Shirley was involved in several organizations which included Lunch Bunch of Victorville, San Bernardino Dept. of Aging and Adult Services, Apple Valley Senior Club, Republican Women's Federation-Apple Valley Chapter, Apple Valley Garden Club, Seniors with Inquiring Minds, High Desert Cultural Performing Arts and was past president of Widow and Widowers. First and foremost she was very active in the Spring Valley Lake Red Hats Society. She was also a member of the Elks Lodge #2646. Shirley is survived by grandsons Harrison D. Smith of Chicago Illinois and Charles Michael Smith of Dallas, Texas. and a very good friend Joyce Rothermal of Richardson, Texas. Shirley was a world traveler and loved people. She always wore a hat to church. Flowers are welcome but donations maybe made to Don Ferrarese Charitable Foundation for Veterans Fund.
