TRUDY E. MCCOMAS 11/22/1927 - 4/28/2014 Gertrude "Trudy" Eilene McComas passed peacefully into the next life on April 28th, 2014. She is survived by her children, Eilene Tighe (George) Stage, Kenneth R. (Johanna) Tighe and Roberta J. McComas, her sister Doris, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Trudy was preceded by her husband Bob and siblings Eugene Mailhoit and Patricia Nelson. Trudy led a very adventurous life. Trudy was born in Edmonton, Alberta Canada on November 22, 1927. She immigrated to the United States as a war bride in 1944 and lived in Glendale, CA. Trudy and Bob were married in 1960 and in 1963 moved briefly to Anchorage, Alaska. Upon returning to California, Trudy and her family moved several times, finally settling in Barstow where she worked for the City of Barstow. During this time, she also realized a lifelong dream of learning to fly, finishing with a commercial pilots license. Trudy and Bob owned a private airplane which was kept at Daggett airfield and were often seen flying away on vacations with their daughter, Roberta. More recently, Trudy had been active the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Hesperia and with the Barstow chapter of PEO. Trudy enjoyed meeting with the camera club at the Barstow Senior Center and had volunteered with the Literacy program through the San Bernardino County Library in Barstow. Trudy will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her many friends and acquaintances. A celebration of Trudy's life will be held in Barstow on June 28, 2014 at 2:00 in the afternoon. All are welcome.
